Baseline Testing to Measure Various Thinking Processes for Sports Teams and Individual Athletes

We provide pre-season baseline testing and thorough and individualized follow up care for any head injury that may occur within the one year enrollment in the Concussion Management Program. Baseline Testing consists of a preseason “Sideline Concussion Assessment Tool “(SCAT3) which is a questionnaire and assessment completed with an examiner as well as a detailed computer based neurocognitive test that measures memory, reaction speed and various thinking processes”

The purpose of the preseason baseline testing is to give us an idea of how that athlete’s brain works on a day to day basis. We keep these scores on file and if the athlete does sustain a concussion, we use it to help ensure he has returned to the same level of brain function he had prior to the injury before returning to sport. In the event of an injury or suspected injury, the athlete or parent can simply contacts us (email or phone call). We will book them an appointment to come and see an athletic therapist as soon as possible.

There will be supervision of the group but if you are concerned that your child may require additional supervision we encourage you to remain at the testing site for the duration.

Directions to the location of testing. Please note that the location of testing may change from event to event so please ensure you know the location of testing prior to that day. Competitive Edge staff may not be available via phone to provide directions, as we are often on location performing baseline testing.
